Growing Regions

  • The San Marcos de Tarrazu (Tarrazu) region is located in the interior mountains of Southern Costa Rica with coffee grown on rich volcanic soils between 1,200~1,800 MASL

  • The West Central Valley, is Costa Rica’s west-most coffee-growing region and produces around twenty-five percent of the country’s total coffee. Coffee altitude ranges between 1,200~1,700 MASL

  • Just east of the West Valley growing region is Central Valley. Central Valley coffee production makes up around 15% of the country’s coffee production. Growing altitudes are between 1,000~1,200 MASL

  • Alajuela is located towards the Northern-Central region of Costa Rica and the majority of the coffee is grown between 1,200~1,600 MASL

  • The Cartago region is almost dead-center of Costa Rica and the region grows it's coffee primarily between 1,200~1,650 MASL

  • Tres Rios is near the coast of the Pacific Ocean producing bright, sweet coffees between 1,200~1,650 MASL

  • Heredia (1,300meters)

  • Guanacaste

  • Orosi (900 - 1,200 meters)

  • West Valley (1,200 - 1,650 meters)

  • Turrialba (600 - 900 meters)

  • Brunca (800 - 1,200 meters)
